Leon Eugene Mason, 89, of Hopkinton, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at the Park Avenue Nursing and Rehab Center in Arlington. Born in Natick, he was the son of the late Ralph and Minnie (Hayes) Mason.

A Hopkinton resident since 1949 and formerly of Natick, he was an Army Veteran in WWII and served from Jan. 1941-Oct. 1945. He was involved in three campaigns; Corregidor, Leyte, and New Guinea Campaigns. After the war, he worked at Dennison Manufacturing from 1946-1979.

He is survived by 3 sons, James B. Mason of Auburn and his fiancee Jackie Juaire, David A. Mason of Hopkinton and his former wife Janice, Lawrence E. Mason of Arlington and 1 daughter, Carol A. Harvey and her husband Bob of Red Bluff, CA. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by a son, Perry M. Mason, a brother, Melvin Mason, a sister Cora Mason; and his former wife, Edna (Leland) Mason.
