Robert E. Merritt

Holliston – Robert E. Merritt, 74, died Friday, May 29, 2009 after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Christine (Potter) Merritt for 51 years.
Born in Holliston, he was the son of the late Maurice and Emma (Carroll) Merritt. He attended Holliston Schools and was employed as a floor and tile mechanic for many years. In his later years, he spent time traveling with his wife and persuing his great love for fishing when ever and where ever he could. He was a U. S. Army veteran and past commander and member of the V.F.W. Post 8507 of Holliston.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Melinda Merritt,of Blackstone, and Caroline Merritt, of Holliston; two grandchildren, Nathaniel and Rebecca, both of Holliston; two brothers, Wilbur, and his wife, Adele, of Holliston, and Arnold and his wife, Barbara, of Islesboro, Maine.

Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston. Donations, in his memory, may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
