Hopkinton – Gabrielle L. Humphrey, 71, died Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at the Milford Whitinsville Regional Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Hubert P. Humphrey who died in 1989.

Born in Woonsocket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Aldea (Courneyer) Handfield.

A resident of Hopkinton since 1969, Mrs. Humphrey was a cashier for Colella’s Market in Hopkinton for the past four years, was the vice-president of the Brampton Circle Tenants Organization, an avid card player, reader and Red Sox fan, enjoyed arts and crafts. She was devoted to her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, James Lemire and his wife, Ferial, of Holbrook; daughters, Joyce Coughlin, Linda Gobeille and her husband Don, and Donna Lemire all of Hopkinton; sisters, Therese Bileau of Bellingham and Cecile Leavis of No. Smithfield, RI, 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Carol Tracey.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 17 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, Church St., Hopkinton. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Hopkinton. Calling hours, at the Chesmore Funeral Home, 57 Hayden Rowe St., Hopkinton will be Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
