Francis Edward Walenski, 92, of Holliston, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025. Born in Medway, he was the son of the late Martha (Bastek) and Joseph Walenski. He was the husband of 68 years to Marilyn J. (Watson) Walenski.

A proud Army veteran of the Korean War, Fran served his country with honor. He was a true outdoorsman and was often seen fishing, hunting, or camping. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his many talents as a “Mr. Fix-It.” Whether woodworking, tending to his garden, or tinkering with any number of projects, he was always up to the challenge of creating or fixing something with his own two hands. Fran was a voracious reader with a particular fondness for World War II history. A lover of music, he had an impressive collection of records and CDs. His other passions included collecting clocks, coins, and various trinkets. He had a special affection for animals and dogs. Though he had a deep and reflective side, Fran never lost his youthful spirit. He was a kid at heart, bringing joy and laughter to those around him. His patience, generosity, and willingness to help others were just a few of the many qualities that made him so dearly loved. Above all, Fran was a devoted husband to Marilyn and a dedicated father, putting his family first in everything he did.

Francis is survived by three children, Jean McNamara and her husband, Bob of North Easton, John Walenski and his wife, Tyna of Ashland, and Mary Ann Rodesiler and her husband, Scott of  Mooresville, NC. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Krista, Jenna, Bobby, Camryn, Sean, and his great-granddaughter, Alexandra.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1st from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. Following visitation a service will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lake Grove Cemetery in Holliston.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled Veteran’s of America Massachusetts Chapter, https://davma.org/
