Holliston- Dyson W. Kring Jr., 83, of Holliston, died Tuesday, April 21, 2008 at Mass General Hospital in Boston. Born in Waltham, he was the son of the late Dyson W. Kring Sr. and Madeline (Patrick) Kring. He was the husband of Mary Claire (Foley) Kring who passed away in 2001.

Formerly of Waltham, he has been a Holliston resident for 13 years. He was a life member of the South Shore Yacht Club and was also a member of the Boston Musician’s Association Local 9-535. He was a Veteran of WWII and served as a quartermaster in the Navy and had served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a graduate of Boston College with a degree in Mathematics. He attended Boston State, the New England Conservatory and the Tanglewood School of Music. He taught in the Medford School System, first with the Music program and then in Mathematics. A trombone player and conductor, he played with the Boston Pops and the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Boston and Tanglewood, the Robert Shaw Singers and Broadway Musicals in Boston and also with many national orchestras and celebrities. Mr. Kring also lead his own band called the Dyson Kring Band and they played in Hampton Beach, NH

He is survived by 3 sons, Charles J, Robert G., and William N. Kring, 2 daughters, Nancy M. Burns, and Denise C. Kring, and 4 half brothers and sisters. He also leaves behind several grandchildren.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 from 6-8p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. (Rt. 16) www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:00a.m. at the St. Mary’s Church of Holliston. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.
