Dieter Thum

December 25, 1937 - June 12, 2013

Share your Memorial with Family & Friends

For some unknown reason I did a search on Dieter's name today as I have been researching a company I use to work at in the 1970's, Computer Identics. Based on Dieter's age and where he resided, I am guessing this is the same man I worked with back then. I was just out of college and remember Dieter being a brilliant System Analyst at the time. I always enjoyed talking to him. If this is the man I worked with, my sincere condolences to all of the family. Dieter was one of the smartest guys I have met in my entire career and he was liked by everyone at Computer Identics.

My condolences to you and your family for the truly great loss of Dieter, an angel who walked among us. He blessed several of us with his experise of IT/AP innovation with CoMed/CoPathPlus - but more importantly, was an innovator of IT contributions across many hospital systems during his tenure. He touched so many lives with IT improvements, and I for one, am thankful for having worked with him. Deeply grateful for the superior person he was - personally and professionally....

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Deiter at CoMed for several years. He always seemed so serious, but when I was able to really talk to him, he was quite funny and had a great sense of humor. My condolences to his family.

It was very sad to hear that Dieter passed away. For many years we worked together at CoMed/DHT/Cerner. He was a pleasure to work with due to his wit, expertise and experience. I remember that he loved to vacation in Belgium in those years, the seashore there was his favorite. He would fondly share his impressions. My condolences to all of you for your loss.

He was the best father ever. I love him so very much. He was always there for us and so tolerant, but tough. It hurt me to see him sick the last 9+ months and I wish there was more that I could have done. He taught me square roots when I was 4. It was amazing what he did. He immigrated from Germany, got his degree in mathematics, was very successful in the then new field of computers, had true love with my mother, and raised the four of us children. I do not know where I would be without his guiding hand. There is not too much good that can be said about him. There will never be another as great as Dieter Thum.
