Hopkinton-

Cynthia Ann Martel, 57, of Hopkinton, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, October 16, 2018.  She is survived by her beloved children Jessica S. Martel and Joshua M. Martel, as well as her husband Christopher B. Martel. Cindy also leaves behind two sisters, Debora LaPlante of Medfield, and Lisa Friedman and her husband, Jeffrey of Cambria, CA; her nieces and nephews: Lauren and husband Lynds, Christopher, Morgan, Sage, Sequoia, Uriah, Sawyer, Logan, Ashley, and Sierra. Cindy cloaked them all in a blanket of love.

Cindy had a passion for writing children’s books, reading to children, exploring estate sales, walking Ruby, and enthusiastically cheering on New England sports teams.  She was a graduate of Fisher College in Boston, born in Framingham, and the daughter of the late Louann (O’Connor) Corrado and Edward J. Henneberry Jr.

Gregarious, strong, and spiritual, Cindy touched many lives in her community. She volunteered as a CCD teacher at St. John’s.  She worked as a school librarian in the Hopkinton Public Schools for the past nine years, with seven of those years being at Elmwood School.  Most prominently, for many years Cindy was very active in working with women at Serenity House.

Burial of Cynthia’s cremains will be held on Saturday, October 27th at 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Medway.  A funeral mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Hopkinton, with a reception to follow in the church hall.  Please consider bringing your favorite children’s book to the reception, all of which will be donated to the Elmwood School library.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Serenity House, 228 Concord St, Framingham, MA 01702.
